Happy Monday,

In our ongoing facilities improvement process, we are updating our stage rigging system in the auditorium. Some of the necessary parts for the rigging system are on backorder, so our projected completion date is mid-November, prior to Candlelight.

Next week, material directly above the stage will be removed.  Some of the material has tested positive for asbestos, a substance common in many buildings constructed at the time Norwalk High was built. The work will be performed by a licensed abatement contractor, and all safety regulations will be followed during the removal process.  When the removal is complete, our environmental consultant  will perform tests to confirm that the air is clear before the auditorium is re-opened. In accordance with state law, certain precautions need to be taken while this material containing asbestos is being removed, so from August 6 through  August 10, no one under 18 will be allowed anywhere in the building.

You may also have noticed in between the last few weeks of rainy days that our school is being power-washed; soon, we'll sport new colors to give NHS a vibrant look!
